The stereochemical course of intramolecular Michael reactions.

We present a general model for understanding the stereochemical course of intramolecular Michael reactions. We show that the addition of β-ketoester enolates to α,β-unsaturated esters and imides bearing adjacent stereocenters (X, Y = H, Me, OR) leads to high levels of asymmetric induction. Reinforcing and nonreinforcing stereochemical relationships are evaluated from the syn and anti reactant d...

Highly enantioselective intramolecular Michael reactions by D-camphor-derived triazolium salts.

Camphor-derived chiral triazolium salts have been found to be highly efficient for asymmetric intramolecular Michael reactions. With 1-5 mol% of the catalyst, the desired products were obtained in excellent yields, with up to 99% ee.

Influence of Michael acceptor stereochemistry on intramolecular Morita-Baylis-Hillman reactions.

[reaction: see text] A study of the effect of Michael acceptor stereochemistry on the efficiency of intramolecular Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) reactions has been performed. The reactions were catalyzed by a phosphine, and the reaction substrates studied were enones containing a pendant aldehyde moiety attached at the beta-position of the alkene group. In all cases examined with PPh3 as the cata...

Catalysis of Transesterification Reactions by a

Histidine-containing peptides self-assemble on the surface of monolayer protected gold nanoparticles to form a catalytic system for transesterification reactions. Self-assembly is a prerequisite for catalysis, since the isolated peptides do not display catalytic activity by themselves. A series of catalytic peptides and substrates are studied in order to understand the structural parameters tha...

Organocatalyzed Intramolecular Carbonyl-Ene Reactions.

An organocatalyzed intramolecular carbonyl-ene reaction was developed to produce carbocyclic and heterocyclic 5- and 6-membered rings from a citronellal-derived trifluoroketone and a variety of aldehydes. A phosphoramide derivative was found to promote the cyclization of the trifluoroketone, whereas a less acidic phosphoric acid proved to be a superior catalyst for the aldehyde substrates.
